Eating Your Skincare: How Prickly Pear Can Transform Your Health and Beauty Game

As most of you know, I’m obsessed with Prickly Pear Seed oil! For those of you that are new here, Prickly Pear seed oil comes from a cactus fruit grown in dry climates such as Morocco. The Fruit produces seeds which are cold pressed and turned into an oil. The oil has been discovered to be a powerful and important ingredient in many skincare products. The oil is rich Vitamin E, Vitamin K, essential Fatty Acids (Omega 6 & 9) and Amino Acids. These contribute to the powerful, moistening, anti aging and skin repairing effects of the oil. As well as applying Prickly Pear oil to your skin, It is also commonly eaten as a fruit in many countries. The fruit is sweet and juicy and has a lot of health benefits, Prickly Pears are good sources of fibre and provide several vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant compounds. In Morocco it is usually sold in a street cart and peeled on demand. As a Moroccan myself, going back home and having the fruit from a street vendor is a core memory.

Before I get into the skincare perks let’s get into It’s dietary perks! Prickly Pear is a game-changer when you eat it too. It’s packed with all the good stuff that work wonders for your body from the inside out. First off, it’s loaded with fibre, which is great for digestion and keeping your gut happy. Plus, it’s got Vitamins like C and E that help fight inflammation in your body. Think of inflammation as your body’s way of dealing with stress or injury, but too much of it can cause problems. That’s where Prickly Pear comes in to help calm things down. And then there’s the whole deal with ‘free radicals’ —basically, they’re little molecules that can mess up your cells and make you age faster. Prickly Pear’s antioxidants help keep them in check, which is great news for your skin and overall health. Lastly, in a world where our tap water isn’t safe to drink or doesn’t have the natural minerals to keep us hydrated we need to consume foods that contain these minerals. Prickly Pear has a high concentration of electrolytes and contains natural sugars and fibre that promotes slow water absorption, providing sustained and prolonged hydration.  When i research and learn about the foods and skincare that people use outside of the western world, it makes so much sense to me why they live longer, healthier and look amazing! So, if you’re into natural remedies, adding some Prickly Pear to your diet is a tasty and easy way to boost your skin and feel better all around.

As an avid Prickly Pear Seed oil user, i can go on forever about the skincare benefits. I’ve tried my best to condense this blog but it honestly does a lot! Whenever someone talks to me about Prickly Pear i call it the skincare superstar. When you apply Prickly Pear oil to your skin, you’re basically giving it a big drink of hydration. The oil is super rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, which are like magic ingredients for keeping your skin soft, smooth, and glowing. It’s especially good at soothing irritated skin and reducing redness, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. If you’re aiming to age gracefully, Prickly Pear is your best friend. The antioxidants in the oil help protect your skin from environmental damage, which is a big deal if you’re living in a city like London. With all the pollution, bacteria, and UV rays we’re exposed to daily, our skin takes a real hit. But Prickly Pear acts like a shield, defending your skin from all those harsh elements. Plus, it boosts collagen production, which is key for maintaining skin’s elasticity and keeping it firm and youthful. So, you can keep your skin looking fresh and radiant, no matter what the city throws at you. And the best part? It’s all natural, so you’re not slathering on any weird chemicals. Seriously, if you haven’t tried Prickly Pear oil on your skin yet, you’re missing out! It’s one of those secret weapons that can really up your skincare game.

Now, let’s dive into the whole ‘eating your skincare’ concept a bit more. When I dig into what people around the world use for their health and beauty routines and rituals, it’s fascinating to see how certain foods pull a double shift. Prickly Pear is a prime example of this. Not only does it do wonders when applied directly to your skin, but eating it also brings big benefits. Think of it as a way to nourish your body from the inside out. The idea is that by consuming nutrient-rich foods like Prickly Pear, you’re not just getting vitamins and minerals but also supporting your skin's health in a holistic way. This approach makes so much sense, especially when you see how effective these foods can be. By integrating foods that are beneficial both internally and externally, you’re setting yourself up for a glow-up that goes beyond just surface-level. So, if you’re looking to upgrade your beauty routine, adding Prickly Pear to your diet and skincare regimen is a win-win. It’s not just a tasty fruit or a skincare boost—it’s a full-on health upgrade.

Moroccan people have been using Prickly Pear for ages, and their traditional rituals shows us just how effective it can be. Our Prickly pear oil (Made in Morocco) is the perfect addition to your skincare routine. I love to massage it on right after i’ve spritzed some Organic Rose water on my face. It doesn’t have a greasy feeling and it leaves my face silky smooth and glowing all day. I must also add that a little goes a long way, a 30ml bottle of prickly pear oil lasts 3 months, and i used it every single day. I cant live without it!
